Land and extra buildings
The Camp-site Don Diego, a more than 23.000 mq area in Grottammare, is situated on the tropical seafront known as the 'Riviera Picena of the Palms', that runs from Grottammare to S.Benedetto del Tronto, two attractive towns situated on the Adriatic coast, in the Marche region (Piceno).
The camping is located between the two towns (1 km from Grottammare centre, 1,5 Km from S.Benedetto), both reachable also through the new cycle-lane on the seafront.
The camping is at just 10 metres from the guest reserved (free of charge) beach, appreciated for its fine golden sand, the transparent sea and the soft depth, ideal also for children.
To those characteristics we can add the quality of its sea (among which the new cycle-lanes) that permitted to Grottammare to achieve, from 1999 to 2008, the prestigious award of “European Blue Flag”.
Surroundings
The ancient and the modern both overlook the sea: GROTTAMMARE is composed by two main urban wards, the higher and ancient ‘Old Town–Borgo Antico’ that lies on the hill overlooking the sea, and the ‘Downtown’that spreads to the southern coast for 4 km.
New cycle tracks are running along the cliffs linking up Grottammare and neighbouring towns, and they will let you enjoy many pleasant journeys among bar, bazaar and small markets during the day, or suggestive nightly walks looking for a gentle sea breeze.
Our town Grottammare, on 43rd parallel, is also the ideal starting point for excursions to visit typical towns of the Piceno territory, as Ascoli Piceno, the town of “Travertine”, Offida, famous for the ‘pillow laces’, Acquaviva, seat of typical summer market and Ripatransone, where you can find the "Italian narrowest lane".
