We have eight beautiful, comfortable apartments and four splendid Bed and Breakrooms available. Our lovely swimming pool has a panoramic view across the countryside.
There are 6 two-room apartments and 2 three-room apartments for up to six persons. All the apartments (40 - 60 m2) have their entrance on the ground floor. They all feature a combination living-dining and kitchen area, a bathroom, one or two bedrooms and an outside terrace. One of our apartments is fully equipped to accommodate disabled guests.
Ideally, apartments can be rented from Saturday to Saturday. However, on request we can also arrange for your visit to begin on another day of the week. A minimum stay of three days is possible, as well, but only when combined with at least one breakfast and one dinner.
The 4 Bed and Breakfastrooms (25 - 30 m2) are located on the first floor with a nice view and private bathrooms. The rooms each have their own water heater and a shared refrigerator in the small central hall. The rooms can be rented on a daily or weekly basis. A minimum stay of two days is possible, if one dinner is included.
Land and extra buildings
Our country estate, Country House Montesoffio, stands on 6.5 hectors of biological farmland. A former farmhouse, now converted into a 'Country house', is situated atop the highest point on the estate, far away from traffic and neighbors. Surrounding the house are quaint farm buildings, fruit and olive trees and a certified biological vineyard. The estate is an ideal starting point for cultural trips, a trip to the beach or just a lovely place to rest. The country-estate has lots of corners to find relaxation in the warmth of the sun or in some shade under the trees. With little or no traffic in the area, it is ideal for children to play freely. We also have a large unheated swimming pool available from June until October.
Culture
Encircled by numerous extraordinary medieval towns, and only 25 km from the Adriatic Sea, our estate is situated close to beautiful old coastal cities like Fano and Senigallia and the city of Urbino. Other historically important cities such as Arezzo (in Toscana), and Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi and Spello (in Umbrië) are also easily reached from our location. The whole area is steeped in culture. There are beautiful squares, countless museums, churches, castles and monasteries. The writer Dante Alighieri and the painter Piero della Francesca (15th century) worked and lived in this area. Many of frescos by Della Francesca can still be admired in their original surroundings. The nearest towns are Barchi (3 km), Orciano (6 km), Mondavio (7 km) and Fossombrone (12 km). They offer a variety of cafes, quaint narrow streets, picturesque shops, and well-stocked (super)markets. You’ll also find many good restaurants located in the area.
Surroundings
The Marche is known for its untouched undulating hills, endless and uncommercialised sandy beaches and many traditional old towns and villages.

Located within Le Marche in the Appenines are two national parks - the Monte Sibillini and the Gran Sasso. The area is comprised of sweeping mountain ranges and spacious highlands where vast herds of sheep graze the rolling hillsides. In addition there are several nature-reserves and forest areas, which along with many of nature’s other wonders you’ll encounter, are home to the wild horses that roam the countryside.
Activities
For nature lovers there are a variety of lovely walks to choose from: fields bursting with sunflowers, the woods in the nearby area, or the nature parks. In addition the area offers many caves that are well worth a visit, like the fascinating sinter-caves of Frasassi.
Sports enthusiasts can choose from golf, cycling through the hilly landscape, or a few hours of paragliding and seeing this beautiful area from an entirely different view.
Along the entire Adriatic coast there are many beautiful sandy beaches. The beaches between Pesaro and Marotta are particularly ideal for children, as the water there is safe and shallow.
Join us on the terrace or in the dining hall with the other guests to enjoy our home cooked Italian meals and dinners. These are served at large wooden tables in a very special atmosphere-ambience. Whenever possible, we use our homegrown vegetables, olive oil and herbs. The wine we serve has its origins in our own or other local vineyards.
Accessibility
By car, the trip to Country house Montesoffio can be made from Holland to Le Marche in one day (approx. 1450 km). The nearest airports are: Ancona, Rimini, Bologna / Forlí and Treviso. The closest train stations are Fano and Marotta.
Further remarks
In search for a new life in a country with a warmer climate, more nature, peace, tranquillity and tasty food, we resigned our jobs in Holland and went to Italy in 2002. We got the unique opportunity to manage a small country estate in the hart of Italy, in Le Marche. It was not just the Italian landscape or the beautiful medieval cities that enchanted our hearts. We thoroughly enjoyed our guests who came stressed and tired and who, within one or two weeks returned home reborn and full of new energy.
It became apparent that we shared the same heart's desire: pampering and taking care of people. That's why, when we returned to Holland, we went searching for our own country estate in Le Marche (‘Italy's best saved secret’).
